WE AT MISTER B PRIDE OURSELVES WITH BEING FACILITATORS OF THE FETISH COMMUNITY, AND THROUGH THIS MAGAZINE WE CAN NOW SHED A LIGHT ON TOPICS THAT WE FIND INTERESTING, CURIOUS AND IMPORTANT FOR THE SCENE. FOR THIS EDITION, WE WANTED TO TAKE A LOOK ACROSS THE POND, SO I’VE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH THE CURRENT MISTER RUBBER MEXICO, JOEL SOLIS.
HOW PRESENT IS THE FETISH SCENE IN MEXICO?
The fetish scene in Mexico is present, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Nowadays, more and more groups are appearing that have new and fresh ideas on how to make the fetish scene more appealing to younger guys. Also, the groups that have been around for a while are opening their doors for new ideologies and new people interested in different types of fetishes. However, this has been very recent and it needs to grow further. Also, thanks to social media, it has never been easier to get in touch with fellow fetishists around your area, and it has also given the opportunity to make bigger groups and communities. Meanwhile, there has also been an incredible advance of LGBT+ rights in Mexico the recent years. New generations are getting less stigmatized and tend to get more and more in touch with their sexuality and their fetishes. However, there is still work to be done, inside and outside the LGBT+ community to educate about the fetish culture, and every group is helping to make the fetish scene more open for everyone.
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH FETISH AND KINK?
I actually got involved without realizing I was getting involved with anything. I mean, usually everybody has a fetish without even realizing that it is one – until somebody else tells you that you have a fetish. For me, everything started with men wearing suits and having a beard.
Oh God, every time I see one, I get so horny! However, I got into latex because of American Horror Story – when a rubber man appeared in an episode. I knew I had to get some rubber. It awoke something I didn´t even know existed inside me. But I didn´t know where to get one; or that there was even rubber fetishists like me around.
Well, at least not until I got invited by a friend to help him in the Mr. Rubber Mexico contest.
I didn´t know what I was getting into. I was bored, and to be honest, a little bit depressed, so I said: “Fuck it, why not?” So I went with him – and it changed my life. When I was at the event,
I got the chance to finally try a rubber suit and in that moment I loved it – the smell, the texture, the sound, how it made me feel. I used it briefly that night but I knew I had to wear more rubber. So I got in touch with the rubber community in Mexico and I found with them an amazing brotherhood with huge hearts and they welcomed me with open arms. And well, here I am now

WHERE ARE THE BEST PLACES TO VISIT?
Mexico is an amazing place to visit! You won’t get enough of it. Of course Mexico City is enchanting, and the night scene in Mexico is fantastic; we have amazing bars, clubs, karaoke’s, food, etc. As a fetishist, the place to visit in Mexico City is TOM´S Leather Bar. It is the only leather bar in Mexico City. There are some other bars like Nicho Bar, Vaquero,s Bar, Botas, El Almacen, where you can go dressed in leather or rubber, but they are not specifically leather or fetish bars. However I would recommend to check their calendars and look after the leather or fetish events at these bars, I really recommend all these events. We need more leather and fetish events, specially events to have play sessions, or places where people can go and experiment with their fetishes. Also, I would love to have some kind of mini FOLSOM here in Mexico City – We need one!
